Hanamantha Haligeri has grown up amid unbearable poverty and casteism. He feels proud being educated himself despite several odds by sacrificing childhood pleasures. Published 4 books till date including a novel "Kengulabi", a play "Ooru Suttaru Hanamappa Horaga" and two short story collections "Kattalagarbhada Minchu" and "Mathada Hori". He has been conferred with many awards including Kuvempu Award by Karnataka Sangha, Shimoga, Bendre Book Award from Rashtriya Bendre Pratisthana, Dharwad.
