A very thin layer of touch-up varnish restores shine and color. It may be necessary to repeat the procedure —once dry— so that shine and color are sufficient. The varnish dries in a few hours. It leaves a porous film which in turn gives the proper adhesion for a subsequent coat of paint. It is very important to apply the touch-up varnish, with a wide brush, very sparingly, since the paint, not yet completely dry, can dissolve in the varnish solvent. Apply directly on top of certain parts of the painting, in a thin layer, to correct sinkholes or nuances, once the color is dry. Ideal for artists who want to protect newly finished oil painting that is still drying. After a drying time of at least one year, a final varnish coat is recommended. The varnish can be removed using petroleum spirit.
